OWCA
A right Royal Gala
With almost 40 OWs, including parents, staff, guests, OWCA Executive committee members and their partners all supporting the Wesley College Gala in December, it was easy to see how numbers topped 400 - just ahead of the Covid Omicron variant taking hold in Melbourne.
This amazing costume event with Regal theme was held at the Regent Plaza Ballroom, and neither venue nor vibe disappointed. With masks recommended but irresistibly removed, the Wesley community ate, drank and danced the night away with Nero-like enthusiasm, everyone sensing a rare window in which to celebrate. Postponed several times since the original July date but magnificently held together by College Events Manager Natalie Krug (OW1991) and the committee, guests were treated to brash brass, black busbies and a big and wildly enthusiastic dance band. Performance artists, card readings, selfie opportunities and life-size Royal cut-outs added to the dynamic atmosphere and for the OWs in attendance, it proved to be a great exploration of the venue, as this year’s Founders’ Day Dinner returns to the Plaza Ballroom in May!
