In early March all was in place for the continuation of easily one of the most popular events on the OWCA calendar, the annual Boat Race Dinner. That was before government-mandated COVID-19 containment measures were announced. Cancelling was a very difficult and disappointing decision to make, but out of the disappointment, however, came a wonderful demonstration of OW and Wesley generosity with many would-be Boat Race Dinner attendees donating their ticket refund directly to the new College Boathouse redevelopment.
We anticipate the brand-new College Boathouse with resistance training facilities will be completed later in the year. If given the all clear to recommence community events, the opening of this fantastic facility will be the perfect opportunity to acknowledge the Wesley rowing community, and award the prestigious OWCA Paul Guest Medal.
