Prue Gillies AM – Benefactor
Prue Gillies AM, Deputy Head of the Prahran (now St Kilda Road) campus in the early 1980s, recently returned to the College to catch up with our Principal, Nick Evans (OW1985). Prue left Wesley College in 1985 to take up the position of Principal of Ruyton Girls’ School, where she had a long and distinguished career.
Prue has never lost her love and passion for Wesley College where her brother, William John Purton (OW1966) and father, William John Purton (OW1927) were both students. As an educator and leader, Prue made an extraordinary contribution to Wesley College. She thoroughly enjoyed working with her colleagues and the challenges of the day, including the introduction of co-education. Prue has always acknowledged how significant Wesley College has been to her own career. She has been a longstanding member of our Sapere Aude Bequest Society and is intending to support Wesley’s scholarship program. Prue understands the importance of education in helping to transform lives.
