This image from a 1965 edition of the Chronicle, which is in the Prime Minister’s cabinet in the reception area at our St Kilda Road Campus, shows Harold Holt (OW1926) and HRH Prince Philip viewing the machine used to produce decimal currency during a trip to Canberra.
Holt was instrumental in changing our currency and Fritz Osbourne (OW1925) (pictured on the left) was the Superintendent of the Mint at that time. Another connection to our currency is through Cyril (Max) Robinson (OW1950) who designed the polymer $10 note.
At a time when our currency is once again changing, even if it is going out of fashion, it’s nice to see the Wesley connection to its history.
